The Leipzig-based "Ideal Orchestra," led by Gellért Szabó, has evolved since its founding in 2021 from an improvisation-oriented chamber ensemble into a platform for avant-garde orchestral music. By continuously integrating new compositions by Szabó, conducted improvisations and meticulously crafted pieces merge into a seamless concert experience with a gripping dramatic arc.
The ensemble stands out with its unique instrumentation, taking the audience on unpredictable sonic journeys where crushing sound walls collide with cinematic soundscapes.
On Totensonntag, November 26, 2023, the Ideal Orchestra transformed the Kantine am Berghain into an intense sonic laboratory. With brutal sound walls, eruptive dissonances, and deeply emotional passages, the ensemble created a concert experience that was both overwhelming and profoundly moving. A recording of this evening will be released on March 7, 2025, via Boomslang Records—an album that, through its aggressive mixing, preserves the raw energy and emotional impact of the live performance. Every tone, every collision of sound and silence, allows the listener to relive the event in its full intensity.
